Flitwick grew up around the Midland Main Line station and then grew again in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s as a commuter town, so the bulk of its roofs are concrete interlocking tiles on estate houses that are now 40 to 60 years old. The earliest of those, off Steppingley Road and around the town centre, are at the age where the felt has gone and the tiles are losing their surface, and re-roofing them is steady work for us.
The older part of the town along the High Street and Dunstable Road, and the surrounding villages of Westoning, Flitton, Pulloxhill and Maulden, have clay plain tiles and slate on Victorian and older houses, with the chimney lead and valley repairs that go with them.
