A roof is replaced for one of three reasons: the covering has reached the end of its life and tiles are slipping or shedding their surface, the felt underneath has perished so every wind-blown shower finds its way into the loft, or the timbers below have been wet for so long that patching is throwing good money after bad. On a typical Bedfordshire house the original roof is now 60 to 100 years old, and most of the roofs we replace fail on all three counts at once.
A full re-roof from us means the old covering, battens and felt come off, the rafters are checked and any rot or woodworm dealt with, then a breathable membrane goes on, new treated battens are set out to the gauge of your tiles, and the roof is re-covered in clay plain tiles, concrete interlocking tiles, natural slate or a slate-effect tile. Valleys, hips, verges, ridges and chimney flashings are all renewed in the same job, and the loft is left cleaner than we found it.

Only where they need it. Rafters, purlins and wall plates are checked once the old covering is off. Rotten or damaged sections are cut out and replaced or sistered, and it is priced separately so you only pay for what is found.
It depends on the pitch of your roof, the look of the street and your budget. Concrete interlocking tiles are the most economical and suit most post-war houses. Clay plain tiles suit older properties and steeper pitches. Natural slate suits Victorian houses. We bring samples to the survey.
