GRP stands for glass reinforced polyester. The roof is built on a new OSB3 deck with pre-formed GRP edge trims, then a layer of resin and chopped strand glass mat is rolled on, followed by a coloured topcoat. Once cured it is one continuous, rigid, waterproof sheet bonded to the deck, with the trims forming the drips and the upstands formed in the same material.
That construction is why we recommend GRP for roofs with lanterns, rooflights, pipes and changes of direction, and for roofs used as balconies or terraces. It is also the system that copes best with foot traffic from window cleaners and gutter clearing.
