Dormer roofline repair, before and after

The before photograph shows what happens when a roofline is left: the painted softwood barge boards have rotted through, the tiles at the verge have slipped because they had nothing to sit on, and water has been running behind the fascia into the dormer for years. This is one of the most common repairs on 1930s houses with dormers.

The dormer roof was stripped, the timbers checked and repaired, the tiles re-laid with a new ridge, and the barge boards replaced in white uPVC with the eaves properly closed. The after photograph is the same dormer from the same scaffold.
